A new era of superheroes

Most of us grew up watching and reading about superheroes. Their willingness to help and protect people even at their own peril made them endearing. The Covid-19 pandemic has made life difficult for most people in different ways. With some, unable to get access to basic needs like food and shelter. Governments as usual have been unable to completely address these problems. The most amazing thing has been our ability to help each other during these tough times. All over the world, inspiring stories about real life super heroes in the form of neighbors helping each other and communities finding solutions to these problems have proven that humanity shines through even in the toughest times.

Over the years, it is clear to see that sometimes ‘the power of Love does make the world go round’ There is a Chinese saying that goes: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody. “It’s clear to see that most people have stepped up to the challenge .From singing on balconies in Italy to volunteers bring groceries to people unable to afford or get groceries. In Kenya people donated to help a widow who cooked stones for her eight children. There have also been many donations to charity organizations to support families and people in need.

There seems to be an invisible force uniting all of us in the midst of all the chaos. Waking up to, inspiring stories of courageous people fighting odds to help each other is outstanding. Nurses and doctors self-isolating in their homes because they are concerned for the wellbeing of their families when they go home. We have created a new era of superheroes who are like beaming lights in these dark times. It is a wonder how resilient we can be. It brings new meaning to the saying that we can accomplish anything when we put our minds to it.

With Countries, slowly opening up the only way we all will be able to slowly adapt to the new normal is if we serve as our brothers and sisters keepers. This will mean being conscious of how our actions have an impact on each other. Wearing masks and social distancing and following guidelines set by the WHO, CDC and health ministries All over the world. All this will only be effective if everyone makes a conscious decision to follow the guidelines. The biggest hindrance so far has been with young people. Surely, a generation that has embraced everything from mullets to Tik Tok would not have a problem wearing masks. We line up for hours to catch every superhero movie. All our favorite superheroes sacrificed so much more to save humankind. So let us all done our capes and do all that we can to end this pandemic. In the years to come we will be telling stories about how humanity prevailed to ensure the survival of humans. We will all be the stars of own stories. A new generation of super humans.
